Do you ever take a moment to stop and look around? Like really look at the details around you?
Something I always try to do, is soak in the scenery around me, even things I see everyday, like my neighborhood. We moved here in January 2014, and I love it more and more as time passes.
I strive to take a walk each day. It starts the morning on a peaceful, reflective note. Stop by this post to read why I absolutely love mornings!
Anyways, on my past walk, I decided to really stop and look around to appreciate my neighborhood. I live at the top of a hill and the autumnal sunrise this morning was incredibly beautiful. #nofilter I love the big one hundred year old oak tree by my house. It always adds to the sunrises beauty.
Another neat thing about my neighborhood, is the leisurely like names of all the streets. Meander, Stroll, Wandering…like it is enticing you to enjoy a nice peaceful walk.
Although the leaves haven’t started turning yet, the trees are looking more beautiful now with the cooler mornings and less intense heat.
These Texas Ashes will turn BRIGHT red by November and it is seriously one of the most enchanting sites to see! We also have Oaks, Magnolias, and a surplus of Crepe Myrtles.
The Texas Sage looks beautiful in the fall too!
I also love how quite everything is. We live more out in the country, so the sounds of roosters crowing, birds chirping, cows mooing, and horses neighing are constantly filling the air. Oh, and the occasional gun shot in the distance! #Texas
We also have two parks in the division…one is right across from my house. The pond full of ducks is always a peaceful escape from daily tasks. And yes, I swing on these swings weekly! 🙂
This neighborhood is a happening place for Halloween too. People come from all over to Trick or Treat! It is a big to do and we usually buy about a hundred dollars worth of candy that depletes by 9pm. Really looking forward to that again and for the fall colors to start emerging!
Do you take time to stop and look around? Is there anything special about where you live?

Happy Tuesday Alexis. I love my neighborhood (suburbia). We moved here in November 1999. Lots of families have been here before we have. It’s a blend of different nationalities, ages and stages of life, and pretty safe and quiet. There’s a big park within a seven minute walk, and we have gentle long hills so it’s a good exercise area. Nothing too spectacular about the landscaping – thank you drought – but the trees will soon turn red and yellow and throw leaves all over the place. I am blessed to be in this area, in my home. Have a great day!

So many people wander around with their eyes closed including me at times but most of the time I like to take stock of what is around me, as I don’t like the thought of walking in dog poo

I struggle with being more intentional about life and everything around me, it’s so easy to get sucked in to the day-to-day rat race and forget to just breathe and look around. Love your photos!
Alexis says
Thanks Jennifer! I know exactly what you mean!

Wow you have moved to a wonderful neighborhood it sounds like, such gorgeous sunrise! My hubby recently bought a new camera with lenses and all, I am just a point and shot kind of gal, and with him looking for unusual pictures we have seen things on our walks that we never noticed before, in all the rush of our daily lives it is always good to slow down and really appreciate everything.
Alexis says
That sounds like so much fun! It is amazing what you can actually see when you are looking!

I love this tour of your neighborhood. I’ve been meaning to do something similar in my community and just haven’t gotten around to it. This is the first weekend in several months that I haven’t had something to do, so I might just have to take a break and get out in the neighborhood to enjoy 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration.
Alexis says
Thanks Mary! I hope you get to go out there and do it, it is really fun to enjoy your area 🙂
